Split the screenplay into scenes first
Everything starts from the screenplay. In CromStudio you write it in the screenplay editor, or produce it from an AI draft or an import from a story or manga you already have (drafts and imports use coins). Writing a logline first gives you a yardstick for editing an imported screenplay.
A screenplay is dialogue and stage directions per scene. A speaker heard but not seen, such as a voice on the phone, is marked "(voice)" so they are not placed on stage. Scene breaks decided here become the units of video generation.
Confirm the voices before generating video
Link a voice preset to each character and their lines get audio. Listen to and confirm the voices before making video; scenes with unconfirmed lines cannot enter production prep. Because the length of a shot is derived from the dialogue, locking the voice first is the correct order. In this route, checking and confirming dialogue audio costs nothing.
Editing a line after confirmation regenerates that scene's video and audio. Do a read-through of the screenplay before confirming to avoid wasting coins.
Production prep sets composition and wardrobe
Running production prep automatically builds each scene's composition (who stands where, where the camera looks) and assigns character outfits. Production prep costs no coins. The more model sheets, looks and location assets you have prepared, the less you need to touch up here. For scenes with movement, a rough preview video is built on the server for checking.
Generate the video
Video is generated per scene, and each scene can use a different model. Models differ in quality, the kind of motion they handle well and the coins per second; the cost is shown before you run. Generated video is managed per shot, so you can pick between takes and redo only the parts you dislike. You can also check a 480p preview first and then upscale to 720p.
Choose portrait, landscape or square to match the destination, so the same screenplay can also be exported as a vertical short.
- To control cost, generate one scene first and check style and motion
- Long scenes are better split; the unit of a redo becomes smaller
- Do not edit the screenplay after generating video; the scene's video and audio would be discarded
Add sound effects and BGM, then join into one video
Assign sound effects per scene and compose the shots with audio. This is where voice, effects and BGM first become one soundtrack. Check it on the timeline and approve the scene.
When every scene is approved, join them into a single video. On the overall timeline you adjust transitions between scenes and the BGM track laid over the whole cut. BGM and sound effects can be generated with AI (using coins), and generated audio stays in a library for reuse.
Finishing and publishing
Optionally add other languages with subtitles and dubbing (one "prepare localisation" covers every supported language) and an opening or ending with a generated theme song. Publish the finished video to the anime section of the crom manga app, or post it to YouTube and TikTok (TikTok for subscribers). If you rebuild a published work, use "update video" to replace it without taking it down. Downloads carry a watermark unless you have a subscription.
