GUIDE / PROMO VIDEO

How to make a promo video with AI

With a short promo video, what decides the result is not what you show but "what you want viewers to do". Promo videos in CromStudio take you through one continuous flow, from setting the goal through concept, script, assets, narration, video, overlay text and export. You can use it to promote not only manga and characters but also products, services, apps and events.

First-time CromStudio users receive 1,000 coins. They can only be spent on generation inside Studio and expire 90 days after they are granted.

What you can promote

A promo video does not have to be linked to a work. Choose what to promote from manga, novels and video works, characters, products, services, apps, games, companies and brands, events, campaigns and more. For promo videos of works and characters registered in CromStudio, you can use their cover, character and episode images and videos directly as assets.

Decide first: goal, audience and destination

In the first step, "Plan", you set the skeleton of the promo video. If you start making video while this is still vague, you end up redoing more.

  • Goal: what you want viewers to do. It changes how the script is put together
  • Who it is for, and the one thing you most want to get across: narrow it down to one thing. Put several into a short promo video and none of them stick
  • The mood, and the CTA shown at the end (text such as "Start for free" and where it links to)
  • Narration voice: choose from the voices registered on the narration screen. You can also set how the name of what you are promoting is read
  • Destination: TikTok, YouTube Shorts, YouTube, embedding on a website, signage and so on. The destination sets the aspect ratio (portrait 9:16 or landscape 16:9), length and safe area. Choose a length of 10, 15, 30 or 60 seconds

Write the concept and script yourself, or ask AI

Based on the plan, you create the concept and script. You can write both by hand, or ask AI for concept ideas or a draft script. In the script, you write narration, overlay text, CTA and subtitles on separate lines.

Writing by hand and saving costs no coins. Coins are used when you have AI create a concept or a draft.

For each asset, choose "Supply it", "Make with AI" or "Not used"

Press "List them from the script" to get a list of the assets the script needs. For each asset, choose whether to supply it yourself, make it with AI, or not use it this time. For assets you supply, you can pick from images and videos already registered in CromStudio, or upload things like logos and product photos. You can also import free stock videos from Pexels and Pixabay as cuts to use as they are, and these cost no coins.

AI can only make backgrounds, mood images and background extras. Products, logos and app screens are not made with AI, because they would come out different from the real thing. For anything you want to show as it really is, always upload a real image. For BGM, choose from the BGM library or make it with AI.

Check the timing before making video

Generating video costs coins, so if you make it while the overall length is off, you pay again to redo it. That is why there is a "Timing" step before the video. Preview and confirm the dialogue and narration audio, then use "Lay out the timing" to rebuild the seconds for each cut from the actual length of the confirmed audio. Creating, previewing and confirming audio and rebuilding the timing are free.

Video, overlay text and export

Once the timing is set, use "Split into cuts" to break it into cuts, then make the video for each cut with "Generate the clip". Generation uses coins per second: you first make a trial at 480p, then upscale to 720p to finish. Choose the take you like with "Use this one". Coins for takes you do not choose are not refunded.

Overlay text, CTA and logos are not drawn into the video by the AI; they are burned in accurately in a later step. You can drag them into position inside the safe area shown by the dotted line (the area that avoids where social apps overlay their own buttons). This step uses no coins and can be redone as often as you like.

Finally, join the cuts into one video, check it, then export and download it for each destination. Alternative versions that change only the cut order or the overlay text do not remake the video, so they cost no coins. If you are not on a monthly plan, downloaded videos include a watermark.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use it to promote things other than manga and characters?

Yes. You can promote things outside CromStudio too, such as products, services, apps, games, company introductions, events and campaigns.

Can I make portrait or landscape videos?

There are two formats: portrait 9:16 and landscape 16:9. Choosing a destination sets the aspect ratio. Choose a length of 10, 15, 30 or 60 seconds.

Can I have AI draw my product or logo?

No. Products, logos and app screens are not made with AI, because they would come out different from the real thing. Upload real images and use those. The assets AI can make are backgrounds, mood images and background extras.

Where are coins used?

Coins are used for AI concept and script drafts, listing assets and generating them with AI, generating BGM, generating video (per second) and upscaling. Hand-written concepts and scripts, creating and confirming narration audio, adjusting the timing, overlay text, joining cuts and exporting are free.

How can I use the finished promo video?

Export and download it for each destination, then post it on social media or your website. If you are not on a monthly plan, it includes a watermark.
